Albuquerque Publishing Company, business agent for the Albuquerque Journal, announced Friday that it will begin outsourcing a portion of its classified advertising function beginning next week.
A Marketing Resource, a national company with more than 400 clients including 300-plus newspapers, will handle classified advertising, except Legal, Obituaries and some Classified Display advertising, received from customers via telephone.
This is an expansion of the current relationship with AMR, which currently performs circulation customer service and telemarketing for the publishing company.
“AMR offers many more advertising options, especially digital products, to our classified clients and has greater expertise in maximizing the advertisers’ on-line reach and results,” said Joe Leong, chief revenue oficer. “Their professionalism is unparalleled and their regional offices will allow us to expand customer access. We view this as a very positive change.”
“This change results in about nine positions being eliminated, but we have done everything we can to reduce the impact on our workforce,” Leong said.
