(Phony classified ad that appeared in the Daily Camera and Times-Call)
Brian Lusk isn’t selling his house.
He’s not getting divorced, either.
But he has been getting a lot of phone calls. By his own estimate, he picked up the phone 40 times on Tuesday, because someone put out a classified advertisement in the Times-Call, Daily Camera and Broomfield Enterprise.
The advertisement reads:
“2100 sq ft 3BR 2BA Home in Erie FSBO. Getting Divorced; Leaving Her with Nothing. Will Sell Home for 2 Tickets to the Super Bowl! with airfare & lodging. Must Act Fast! Serious Inquiries Only!”
“I have a buddy who is a big Steelers fan,” Lusk said. “We jaw back and forth during the season. When they played in the playoffs, I rode him hard for a few days.
“He texted me back and said he was going to get me.”
This is how his friend got him back.
“I answered a phone call on Friday morning about my house being for sale,” Lusk said. “She read off the ad. It all started clicking for me. I figured out who was doing it.”
Lusk is happy to announce that his house is not for sale, and, more importantly, he is not getting divorced. His wife, Julie, confirmed that they remain happily married.
In addition to calls from potential home buyers, friends have also been texting and calling to ask why he is selling his house.
“They wanted to know about my house, but they didn’t ask if I was getting divorced,” he joked.
A Longmont native, Lusk has always been a Denver Broncos fan, and his father had season tickets. This year, he is planning on throwing a Super Bowl party.
As for revenge, he hasn’t decided.
“I have a couple of ideas,” he said. “I have to one up him a little. I know my buddy. He’s a big joker. I just need to make sure I get him back better than he got me.”
